From around the world to right here in her own backyard, Valerie Trenter is always living life by design.

The hustle and bustle of a colorful Indonesian outdoor market is accompanied by sounds of the surrounding city. But within that market, Valerie Trenter has her eye on an unusual basket she’s discovered. This isn’t your typical shopping trip, however.

As VP of Merchandising for Cost Plus World Market for many years, Valerie often found herself scouring the globe in search of interesting wares for the company to sell. When she found a product she was interested in, then the real work began – sourcing the product, developing business relationships while taking local cultures into account and negotiating a deal. That entire process eventually led to that unusual basket showing up on the shelves of World Market stores in the United States.

For Valerie, this scenario took place not only in Indonesia, but also in India, China, Vietnam, Thailand and across Europe. She thrived on the opportunity to experience so many new and distinctly different people, places and cultures. Having earned her bachelor’s degree from the prestigious Cornell University College of Human Ecology and risen through the ranks with Macy’s and The Emporium, Valerie was most definitely living life by design.

Valerie loves cooking and entertaining. Her latest passion is experimenting with jam making, creating flavors such as strawbeery jalepeno or fig ginger lemon.

Family Focus. Community Focus. Client Focus.

Although she ultimately put her retail career behind her, she’s still very much living that “life by design.” A Peninsula resident for nearly 30 years, she loves where she lives and plays an instrumental role in local events such as the Kings Mountain Art Fair each Labor Day weekend. Personally, she and her husband, Jerry, have been married since 1972 and have two grown sons who live nearby.

In 2001, Valerie established herself as one of the Peninsula’s premier real estate professionals by combining her passion for the Bay Area lifestyle with her impressive business background. She’s built a strong track record of success ever since. “In my previous career, no two products or transactions were ever alike,” Valerie says. “Real estate is the same way. Every client has his or her own goals and aspirations, and I cherish that opportunity to play a critical role in such an important process for my clients.”

A longtime local, Valerie’s local knowledge lends her the market insight and resources to achieve all of your real estate goals.
